Grades
Cosmetic condition of the handset is determined by applying extensive industry knowledge and countless hours of research in order to ascertain what should be expected from a handset of the age and model in question.
Grade A
Little to no visible flaws in the cosmetics. LCD in good working condition. From a cosmetic and LCD functional condition device can be reused AS IS.
Cosmetics:
Like new condition with MINIMAL blemishes or very light scratches.
Functional:
LCD is in working condition with no bleeding, lines, dark or light areas, or burned-in images. LCD may have slight backlight issues or as many as 5 dead pixels. Battery is intact and not swollen. Battery has passed a state-of-health test. Device was powered on, and data was successfully erased. No other functional conditions are warranted unless specifically identified.
The intent of these devices, from a cosmetic standpoint and a LCD standpoint, is that they may be reused WITHOUT any further cosmetic enhancements or cosmetic repairs.
Unless specifically represented in the above paragraphs, HOBI disclaims any functional warranty or representation as to the operating condition of the device.
Although HOBI uses only OEM parts in its repair process, devices may or may not have non-OEM parts that are out of HOBI's control; and therefore, any device that contains non-OEM parts is not subject to RMA.
Recent historical data indicate that Apple products for sale across the grades experience 15-20% fingerprint or facial recognition fail. This feature is not warranted against failure in our auctions.
Grade B
Up to normal wear and tear cosmetically. LCD is in good working condition with a few issues that do not affect the functional nature of the LCD. From a cosmetic and LCD functional condition device can be reused AS IS. Within each B-grade auction, HOBI will identify the quantity of devices in the auction that have registered a non-working fingerprint or non-working facial recognition feature. Please note that a cosmetically damaged home button may still have a working fingerprint feature. In those cases we consider the fingerprint feature working but the phone may still qualify as a B-grade device.
Cosmetics:
Minimal to normal wear and tear. Device can exhibit visible scratches, including deep scratches that can be felt by rubbing your finger across the scratch. Device may also exhibit dents, dings, or gouging on the devices. The digitizer and back (if the back is glass) are intact, with no cracking, broken, or missing pieces.
Functional:
The LCD is in working condition with no bleeding, lines, dead touch spots. The LCD may have MINIMAL issues, such as slight burn-in, dead pixels, backlight issues or minimal dark or light spots, but is in usable condition in its current state. Battery for the device is intact and not swollen. Battery has passed a state of health test. Device was powered on, and data was successfully erased.

Grade C
Front glass is either broken/cracked/shattered. C Grade devices either need the LCD to be refurbished OR replaced before the device can be used again. The back is cosmetically acceptable and does not need to be replaced. Devices with bad, corrupted, or no IMEI are included in our C category.
Cosmetics:
Heavy wear and tear, or broken/cracked/shattered digitizer. HOBI will indicate on the list of devices, to the best of our examination, whether the LCD on the device can be refurbished. We examine the LCD for any bleeding, lines, non-functional touch, or other features that would make the LCD unusable or non-functional if refurbished. This is a guideline only for bidding and not subject to RMA.
Functional:
HOBI does not guarantee if a LCD can be refurbished where we indicate so our examination of the LCD is minimal, as indicated above. The device may or may not include a working battery. If the device does include a battery it may or may not be functional as HOBI does not test battery quality. Device was powered on, and data was successfully erased. No other functional conditions are warranted unless specifically identified.
The intent of these devices, from a cosmetic standpoint and a LCD standpoint, is that, at a minimum, the device will need to have the LCD refurbished OR possibly replaced, where indicated. The device typically cannot be used as a working tablet in its existing condition.
